Carmel Chapel, Treherbert

The Peter Conacher pipe organ at Carmel Chapel in Treherbert had been converted to electric action in the 1980s by using solenoids to open the pallets. The chapel had received unaffordable quotes to completely rebuild the instrument and convert it electro-pneumatic action.

Working with Bill Gannon we were able to get this organ back into working order. The diode keying system was repaired to fix dead notes and stop ciphers, and the key contacts were tinned to improve operation. The pallet springs and drop of the solenoids were adjusted to improve the responsiveness of the action.

Other repairs were made to the organ, including cleaning the Bourdon and Bass flute pipes, patching the reservoir, before tuning the organ (including properly cone tuning previously pinch tuned pipe work.)
