St John the Baptist, Elmore

I recently had the pleasure of assisting Martin Renshaw installing a new pipe organ in St John the Baptist’s church in Elmore Gloucestershire.

When the Liddiat pipe organ was sadly beyond economic repair a redundant W.G.Vowles was moved from a nearby church. The final organ includes parts of the Liddiat organ, notably most of the casework, and some of the pipes.

I was involved with the dismantling of the two organs, before taking responsibility for reassembling the mechanical action, installing the choir windchest (including making the frame, wind trunking and stop action), installing the pedals, making a new windchest for a pedal reed, and modifying and fitting the Liddiat casework around the V.G.Vowles organ.
